With the Chantilly disaster far behind me I was ready to try another Colette pattern. This time I decided to make the Sencha. The pattern recommends crepe fabric. My Mother had bought me this beautiful crepe fabric. I decided to give it a try since the Sencha pattern was rated "Beginner". I cut out the shirt out of the crepe fabric and I took my time to cut it out carefully. It was annoying but I did it. I got started and sewed the first tuck. Uuuggghh! This fabric was a nightmare. It was hard to mark, it moved easily and I was so frustrated after just two tucks.
I decided sewing is supposed to be fun not misery so I trashed it. Literally. I went to Joann's and bought plain white shirting fabric. So easy to work with! I had no real issues sewing the shirt up but my only complaint is how the button holes are marked on the pattern. Most pattern companies use lines to mark the buttonhole since buttonholes are straight lines. Colette patterns using big circles. What? Why? So odd.
I chose to use larger than recommended vintage red buttons. They are magnificent in all their plastic basket weave textured glory.
I love the shirt and can see myself making more. What do you think?

Beautiful!
